INTERNATIONAL TRANSLATION DAY

International Translation Day 30 September 2019

Dear Colleagues,

This very special year, 2019 the International Year of Indigenous Languages,  recognises indigenous language speakers, and honours the interpreters, translators and terminologists who give them a voice.

Join FIT, our counterparts WASLI (World Association of Sign Language Interpreters, WFD (World Federation of the Deaf), The European Commission, CEATL (Conseil Européen des Associations de Traducteurs Littéraires), UNESCO and the United Nations in The International Year of Indigenous Languages, to honour Translation and Indigenous Languages this 30 September.

There are so many ways to celebrate!

You can:

•     Sign your emails with our winning ITD poster in your email signature

•     Display the poster at your events or in your communications

•     Translate our press release, include some info of your own events and circulate 

•     Share a video of what ITD means to you  (Full details below)

Send us your videos on the theme ‘Celebrating ITD in 2019, International Year of Indigenous Languages’ before 23 September. You will find more details on our website. 

Videos should celebrate ITD and look at any of the following themes: 

•          What ITD means to you

•          How you/your association celebrate ITD 

•          The importance of Translating/Terminology/Interpreting for indigenous languages

•          ITD as a international celebration with the UN

•          Why you love your job as a Translator/Interpreter/Terminologist

The content of the video is up to you.

Be creative. Be bold. Be as fun and/or funny as you like. Starting filming now!
