Canterbury Branch Report
Canterbury Branch had a successful AGM, electing Christiane Rupp as President and Peter Campbell as Vice President. Thanks to outgoing Vice President Irene Lee for the many years she has served in that role.
We also had an enjoyably convivial pre-Christmas dinner at the Topkapi Turkish restaurant in Manchester Street. In its old, more central pre-earthquake location the Topkapi was the scene of a similar function we had some years ago. Although its new location is largely surrounded by vacant lots where demolished buildings used to be, the fact that the restaurant is up and running again, in considerably larger premises, is a sign of the recovery that is slowly starting to happen in our battered but unbowed city.
We will be starting the new year with a meeting in February -- date and venue to be announced. In the meantime, our seasonal compliments and best wishes to colleagues near and far!!!
